Biographies
Jay Blury – President
Jay Blury, a lifelong Alaskan, is the Assistant Vice President, Marketing Officer for Northrim Bank, a commercial bank that provides personal and business banking services through locations in Anchorage, Eagle River, Wasilla, and Fairbanks, Alaska. Jay enjoys the ever-changing and exciting field of marketing and understands the power of effective communication. Jay has been involved in AMA since 2005 and has served on the Board of the AMA Alaska Chapter since 2008. In addition to AMA, Jay serves on the Board of Directors for Anchorage School Business Partnerships and is an avid community volunteer, including Big Brothers Big Sisters. When he is not working Jay enjoys culinary experimentation, gardening, hiking and trout fishing. Jay is a graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Public Communications.
Larry Cleland – Facilities Director
Larry Cleland is the Director of Corporate Support for Koahnic Broadcast Corporation, a Native American media center. Larry has over 25 years experience in the media, marketing and non-profit development industries. Larry has been involved with AMA since college and has served on the Board of the AMA Alaska chapter since 1996. In addition to AMA, Larry is an active Rotarian and serves on several community and industry boards and committees. Larry’s favorite part of the field of Marketing is the creativity it allows to invent ways to help achieve important goals. Larry is a graduate of Kansas State University with bachelor’s degree in Marketing.
Lori Davey – Website/Internet Director
Lori Davey, a lifelong Alaska, is the owner of Motznik Information Services, a local company providing list services to local marketing professionals and small business owners. Lori enjoys the dynamic aspects of marketing and interacting with other professionals through AMA. Lori has been a member of AMA since 2006 and has served on the AMA Alaska Chapter board since 2009 as the website/ internet director. Lori also serves on the UAA Alumni Association board, South Goldenview Rural Road Service Area board, Municipality of Anchorage Onsite Technical board, and is active in the Downtown Rotary and Anchor Toastmasters. Lori was a recipient of the 2009 Top 40 Under 40 award from the Alaska Journal of Commerce and Anchorage Chamber of Commerce. Lori is a two time graduate from UAA with a BS in Business with major in Marketing and minor in Journalism and Public Communications and a Masters in Business Administration.
Angela Gonzalez –Secretary
Angela Gonzalez is the Communications Coordinator for the Rural Alaska Community Action Program, Inc., also known as RurAL CAP. RurAL CAP is a private, statewide, nonprofit organization which works to improve the quality of life for low-income Alaskans. Angela has been in the field of marketing for eleven years. Angela has been a member of the AMA Alaska Chapter since 2002 and has served on the Board of Directors since 2008. Angela’s favorite aspect of being in marketing is being creative and having fun. In addition to AMA, Angela serves on the Board of Directors for Alaska Native Professional Association. In her off time she enjoys photography, fishing and boating in the Alaskan outdoors.
MaryAnn Hanson – Hospitality Director & Immediate Past President
MaryAnn Hanson is the Public Relations Director for Municipal Light & Power. MaryAnn has been a member of AMA since 2003 and has served on the AMA Alaska Chapter Board since 2007. In addition to AMA, she is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, Alaska Chapter. MaryAnn’s favorite aspect of working in the field of marketing and public relations is the opportunity to communicate and network with a wide variety of other professionals. MaryAnn is a lifelong Alaskan and a graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage. She served on the board of the UAA Alumni Association for five years and is currently the chair of the Scholarship Committee for the Alaska Power Association. When she is not working, MaryAnn enjoys reading, going to the theatre, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Heidi Miles - Membership Director
Heidi Miles works for the State of Alaska Health Care Services on their new Medicaid Management Information System Design, Development and Implementation Project. Heidi recently returned with her family to Alaska after living for 5-years in Gig Harbor, WA. She has worked in advertising, sales and marketing for more than 15 years. She has been involved in the AMA for more than 8 years and has previously served as Chapter President, Membership Director and AMI Awards Director. Heidi volunteers as a Girl Scout troop leader and when she is not working, Heidi enjoys fishing and outdoor adventures with her family on their boat harbored in Homer, reading, antiquing, scrapbooking and couponing.
Lexie Mizeras – Communications Director
Lexie Mizeras is the Vice President of Marketing & Philanthropy for the Alaska SeaLife Center, Alaska’s only public aquarium and ocean wildlife rescue center. Lexie has over ten years experience in the field of marketing and also is a marketing professor at U.A.A. Lexie has been a member of the AMA Alaska Chapter since 2009 and has served on the Board since 2010. In addition, Lexie is an active Rotarian and serves on other community boards and committees. Lexie enjoys working in the field of marketing because it is continually changing and always relevant. Lexie is a graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing as well as a Masters of Business Administration.
Cathy Opinsky – Registration Director
Cathy Opinsky, an Anchorage native, is the Associate Director of Marketing Communications for AT&T Alaska. Cathy has been involved in AMA since 2001 and has served on the Board of the AMA Alaska Chapter in various positions from President to Secretary, and currently serves as the Registration Director. In addition to AMA, Cathy serves on the Board of Directors for Covenant House Alaska and the Inlet View PTA. When she is not working Cathy enjoys spending time with her husband, John and their three sons.
Jessica Reyna – President-Elect
Jessica Reyna works at AT&T Alaska in Marketing Communications. Jessica has been involved with the AMA since 2007 and is currently serving in her second term on the Board of Directors. In addition to AMA, Jessica serves on the Board of Directors for Alaska Chapter of the March of Dimes. When she is not working Jessica enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. Jessica holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Alaska Anchorage and is currently working on a master’s degree in Communication and Leadership through Gonzaga University.
Jeri Rubin – Treasurer
Jeri Rubin is a Professor of Business Administration at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Jeri has over 30 years of experience working in the field of marketing. Jeri’s favorite areas of marketing include advertising and sales. Jeri has been a member of the AMA Alaska Chapter since 1987 and has served on the Board of Directors since 1993. In her off time she enjoys motorcycling, working out at the gym, and reading. Jeri is a graduate of Ithaca College with a B.A. in Biology, holds a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz, and also earned a Master’s of Business Administration degree from Alaska Pacific University.
David Weatherholt – Sponsorship Director
David Weatherholt is the President of Weatherholt Associates, a management consulting firm. David is an entrepreneur at heart and has over twenty years of professional experience. David has been a member of AMA for years and has served on the AMA Alaska Chapter Board since 2010. David has an Masters of Business Administration from Alaska Pacific University.
Christina Young – Program Director
Christina Young is the Corporate Support Manager for Alaska Public Telecommunications. APT is a public media, radio and television station. Christina has over seven years of experience in the field of marketing and enjoys the creative process. Christina also enjoys being a patron of the arts, is committed to recycling and keeping life simple. Christina is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of the Arts with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree.
